Purpose
St. Anne’s Shrine, which the Society is working to restore, is first and foremost a place of worship. To that end, in line with the calls for new and fruitful evangelization, your Society is working to reach the greatest number of people through, not only in-person live services, novenas, and Masses (as allowed), but through live streaming via video and audio service, as well as maintain a treasury of events for your reference.
What is a Pilgrimage?
A pilgrimage is a journey that participants, called pilgrims, make to a place that is considered holy. To us Catholics, a pilgrimage is more than just traveling to historic sites and viewing religious relics. It is a journey with a deeper and more spiritual meaning.
The word pilgrim comes from the Latin word “peregrinum” which conveys the idea of wandering over a distance. A pilgrimage is not purposeless wandering. It is a journey with a higher purpose and that purpose is to honor God.
A pilgrimage lets us plan and immerse ourselves in the cultural, historical and spiritual aspects of the life of Jesus and the saints. It is hoped that this virtual pilgrimage will help you connect with the saints and special places in the Shrine that unite us with fellow Catholics all over the world.
