Please keep in prayer the third year theologians at St. John’s Seminary (Boston) who made their solemn Oath of Fidelity and Profession of Faith Thursday evening, March 4.
This is an important and necessary step prior to the ordination to the Transitional Diaconate. Four men from Fall River made this important step at St. John’s…and are a blessing for the people of our diocese. May their numbers increase!
Mr. Maxwell Chukwudiebere (Boston)
Mr. Mark Gadoury (Providence)
Mr. Matthew Laird (Fall River)
Mr. Derek Mobilio (Worcester)
Mr. Patrick O’Connor (Boston)
Mr. William J. O’Donnell ( Fall River)
Mr. Gregory Quenneville (Fall River)
Mr. Nathaniel Sanders (Boston)

Ember Wednesday
They are the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday occurring four times per year: in the first week of Lent, in the octave of Pentecost, in the third week of September, and in the third week of Advent. An easy way to remember is: Lenty, Penty, Crucy, Lucy (Lent, Pentecost, Triumph of the Cross, and Feast of St. Lucy).
The Ember days are traditionally observed as days of fasting and abstinence (fasting and partial abstinence in the USA on Ember Wednesdays and Saturdays, with fast and complete abstinence on Ember Fridays).

Feast of the Chair of St. Peter
…He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Lenten Vespers (Liturgy of the Hours)
Just a reminder that we will be beginning our annual recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours Vespers for Lent at 4PM this afternoon in the shrine.
This venerable practice is part of the rich patrimony of the faith and has been handed down to us through the ages. We hope to see you at St. Anne this afternoon.
