…He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Lenten Vespers (Liturgy of the Hours)
Just a reminder that we will be beginning our annual recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours Vespers for Lent at 4PM this afternoon in the shrine.
This venerable practice is part of the rich patrimony of the faith and has been handed down to us through the ages. We hope to see you at St. Anne this afternoon.
Shrove Tuesday
Today is Shrove Tuesday, taken from a description of the day which many would seek to be “shriven” before the discipline of Lent. In other words, our priests will tell us “Go to Confession”!
Today is also called “Fat Tuesday”. When the discipline of Lent was much more serious than it is today in the Latin Church, today was the last day before Easter you could eat animal fats, etc.
To be good Catholic Christians, our lives must take on the qualities of the mysteries we profess. We are our rites. Our prayer should be that our lives reflect what the Church offers liturgically all through Lent.
Healing Mass, February 18
On February 18 at 6:30PM our monthly Healing Mass will be held, celebrated by Fr. Edward Murphy. Confessions and Rosary will precede the Mass at 6:00PM. Exposition and adoration will follow the Mass, and you’ll have an opportunity to pray before the Blessed Sacrament during the adoration.
All Commonwealth health requirements will be followed: social distance and masks while in the Shrine and during the Mass, and sanitizing of the kneelers before the monstrance between individual use.
Parousia: The Bible and the Mass, Starting February 24th
Where do we find the Mass in the Bible? What is the relationship between the two? In ten beautifully produced lessons, Parousia: The Bible and the Mass, answers these questions and more.
In this latest video Bible study from the St. Paul Center, discover why the liturgy is a major theme that runs through the entire Bible, from Genesis to the Book of Revelation. We will not only look to the Law, the Prophets, and life and teachings of Jesus, we’ll also lean on the Doctors of the Church to enhance our understanding of the Mass. We’ll see how the New Testament is concealed in the Old, the Old is revealed in the New, and why both point directly to the Mass, the sign of the New Covenant.
Join host Dr. Scott Hahn, noted apologist and theologian, to uncover how and why all of God’s action, in creation and redemption, is ordered to and centered on, the Mass.
Sessions will be held in the Shrine, starting on Wednesday, February 24, at 7:00PM. Study guide is available for a $20.00 donation. Social distancing and masking, as required by Commonwealth directives, will be required and encouraged. Please contact the office at 508-678-1510 during our regular business hours for more information or to sign up.
